Double (filet) crochet pot holders / Łapki do garnków - słupki - szydełkowanie okienkowe

Today I would like to present an interesting pattern for kitchen pot holders made using a filet crochet method.

Pot holders were made with the leftover 100% cotton yarn (Drops Paris - col. 35 vanilla) from a different project. The recommended size of the hook for this yarn is 5 mm (US - size 8/H; UK - 6). However, I found it easier to work with 4 mm hook (US - 6/G; UK - 8) instead. To crochet a single pot-holder without a border and decorations a 50 g of yarn is just perfect. To make 2 pot-holders overall I used slightly less than 150 g of yarn. The pattern I followed comes from a blog of Marifu6a.

The author has also provided a full step-by-step photo tutorial, a diagram and description in English. A slightly modified pattern you can also see on the YouTube presented kindly by Oana. The border was done in the following manner - V stitch - double crochet (US; treble crochet - UK), single chain, double crochet in one "window", then a single crochet in the next "window" and so on. In the corners of the pot-holder I have done 6 double crochet (US; treble crochet - UK), although Marifu6a recommended 5. The handle was made of 10 chains, but could be actually a bit longer. The final size of pot-holders is 10 x 10 in (25 x 25 cm).

Do you like the filet crochet pattern shown above? Would you be interested to see other projects made using this technique? If yes, please leave a comment in a box below.

Dzisiaj przedstawiam ciekawy wzór na kuchenne łapki wykonane metodą filetową - metodą okienkową.

Łapki do garnków zostały zrobione w celu zagospodarowania resztek 100% bawełnianej włóczki (Drops Paris - kol. 35 wanilia), pozostałej z poprzedniej robótki. Zalecany przez producenta rozmiar szydełka dla tej włóczki to 5 mm (US - rozmiar 8/H; UK - 6). Jednakże, o wiele łatwiej pracowało mi się szydełkiem o rozmiarze 4 mm (US - 6/G; UK - 8).

Wielkość końcowa łapek do garnków wynosi 25 x 25 cm (10 x 10 cali).

Czy lubisz szydełkowanie filetowe - szydełkowanie okienkowe? Jakie inne wyroby chciałabyś/łbyś zobaczyć wykonane właśnie tą metodą? Napisz proszę pod artykułem :)

Corner to corner (c2c) blanket / Koc dziergany od rogu do rogu - metoda c2c

This is an example of very popular corner-to-corner throw / blanket/afghan designed by Catherine Watson for the yarn producer Red Heart, where you can find a detailed description available free of charge. Mike from the CrochetCrowd has also uploaded a step-by-step tutorial on YouTube. I must say that this tutorial is very good, even for the absolute beginners. Thanks to Mike I was able to make this afghan by myself. If you would like to make this blanket by yourself, then only 3 basic techniques you should know, i.e. chain, slip stitch and double crochet (US; treble crochet - UK). The Polish translation contains also a description of the pattern since it is not made available in this language. After a month of work in the evenings and weekends, whenever I found some free time, I finally completed this blanket. The final measurements are following: 50 x 75 inches (with border), and 48 x 73 inches (without border). This size is perfect for a teenager or a small adul...

10 ways how to join crochet item with a fabric / 10 sposobów na łączenie dzianiny lub elementu szydełkowego z tkaniną

Crocheting brings a lot of joy and a wonderful experience to numerous individuals, including myself. Most of the crochet projects can be entirely done using a single stitch, such as blankets or pot holders. This is absolutely easy and enjoyable. The problem starts, when we have a great idea for a new project and where combinations of techniques are required… Wait a minute, so how to combine the fabric with crochet artwork in a simple project such as a bag or purse? Double crochet universal hat / Uniwersalna czapka - słupki

This is a very simple and unisex design which always works! I have already done several hats using this pattern. The size of the hat on the photo is approx. large and can be easily regulated using thinner/thicker yarn and a specific crochet hook (smaller or bigger). Let's start from creating a magic circle. Chain 3 stitches, which equals to one double crochet. Then cast further 23 double crochets around and join the first with the last double crochet using a slip stitch.   To start a new row chain 3 stitches - this equals to one double crochet. Throughout the second row we will be making 3 double crochets in each double crochet from a previous row. This should result in 72 stitches. Join the first with the last stitch using a slip stitch. I know, it may sound a bit crazy as at the very begining hat will be very wavy. Do not worry, as the hat lenghtens, the texture will straighten up.  Following from the third row onwards, we will continue makin...
