I received as a gift a bag of 100% wool yarn (Pattons - Fairytale, col. 04180, 10 x 50 g) in a multicolour range - from ivory through different shades of blue to brown. Initially, I made a small boy hat and an infinity scarf using the simple pattern for the universal hat previously described on this blog. My nephew was not very happy, as it turned out that the 100% wool was too itchy and caused him a skin rash. From that moment onwards I no longer buy 100% wool yarn, but a blend of wool with other threads; the one which I found very pleasant to skin and to work is a mixture of 65% wool with 35% alpaca, e.g. Drops Lima (4 mm) and Drops Nepal (5 mm). I tend to buy my yarn on the Wool Warehouse website . Orders above £ 25 have a free develivery at the territory of the UK.
