I have left with some 100% mercerised cotton yarn (Pattons, col. 1205) from a previous experimental project and thought it would be enough to make a new set of pot holders. I was looking for an elegant and relatively easy pattern to follow and found this lovely shell stitch pattern. The applications of this pattern are numerous and it can be used for projects such as coasters, blankets, pillow cases, table cloths, pot holders, bags, purses, carpets. It all depends on available materials and the hook size. Here, I would like to present my first attempt of crocheting a skirt. The design is very simple and straightforward and I believe that anyone can do it. Following the rule of thumb to crochet every day but a little (1-2 hours), it took me a month to complete this project. I used 400 g of cotton thread Scheepjes Maxi 100% mercerised cotton (col. 776 Antique Rose) and a 2 mm hook as well as 1 m of white elastic band of 38 mm width. The size of this skirt is UK 16 = EUR 44. Below you can find the measurements for other sizes. 1.  Using 2 mm hook and given thread I crochet a chain of 40 stitches (37+3 =10 cm width). I used double crochet (BR treble crochet) pattern. The width of chain is equal to the width of the belt. You can adjust it to your preferences.
