Single crochet pot holders / Łapki do garnków - półsłupki

Using further leftover cotton thread, I decided to make a different type of pot-holders. Here they are! Aren't they lovely, are they? An English version of step-by-step video tutorial you can find here . The same video tutorial is also available in German and in Polish .  I used just over a 50 g of a 100% cotton skein (Drops Paris - col. 35 vanilla, 39 pistachio, 43 green, and 5 mm hook) to make a single pot-holder. You may wish to explore this pattern by playing with colours, e.g. single, double or treble. I like this pattern very much as it is very easy to follow and very quick! Especially, if you do not have much time and budget, but you would like to make a small gift for your family or friends. Two-colour  pot-holders are slightly larger as I have done one row more, comparing with a 3-colour one. Only the basic crochet skills are required, i.e. , to make a chain, a slip stitch and single crochet (double crochet - UK).  You start with croch...

Crochet lace dress (flower hexagon) / Koronkowa sukienka z elementów

Once the first dress has been finished, I started working on the next. The following pattern I have chosen. This pattern comes from a book titled "The crochet block Bible" written by L. Roberts and H. Lodinsky (Search Press, 2015, p. 134-135), where you can find many more interesting designs. The electronic version of diagram I found on the blog that belongs to the Candida International and also at the Ravelry . The size of dress I am planning to make is 14/16 UK (42/44 EUR, 12/14 US). The size of the sample is 10 cm (4 inches). I am using a 100% mercerised cotton thread (Scheepjes Maxi, col. 750 - donkerrood, 100 g = 560 m) and 2 mm size hook (although recommended size is 1.25-1.5 mm, US 6-10). A 100 g ball translated into 32 ready elements. So far, I have used 300 g and I have got 96 elements. To be very honest with you, this is not the end of my work but since I was very curious how the dress will look, I have already started joining the elements. Initially,...

Crochet lace dress (star pattern) / Koronkowa sukienka z elementów

One of my this year new resolutions was (and still is!) to make 3 crochet dresses, for my mum, my sister-in-law and myself. I have recently finished a dress for my sister-in-law, which overall took me about a month to make. I used a pattern published in a Russian journal, which luckily for me, had an easy to follow diagram of a round motif. The size of a motif is 8 cm (before blocking), and it gets extended to 9 cm (after blocking). The original pattern is designed for the size of 14/16 UK (42/44 EUR, 12/14 US, 46/48 RUS). Since my sister-in-law is a tall and slim lady, thus, I needed to modify the original motif set up. For the size of 10/12 UK (38/40 EUR, 8/10 US) I made overall 116 of motives, which later on I sewed together manually using a yarn needle. I used 100% mercerised cotton (Rico - Essentials crochet, col. 18 - silver) and a crochet hook of 2 mm size. I added a border around the neck using a shell stitch (escalope). Overall, I used 6,5 skeins of 50 g we...
